Still Working Out What it Means to Be Saved By Grace

We might be mid-life but we are still
trying to discover the depths of faith, family and how we are to be
Christ-agents in this world in which we live. We are open to explore, ponder and
discover how God will use us in this phase of our lives. We desire to refine and
adjust ourselves while we reconnect to our pasts and make this transition to the
future. It isn't really about the destination but more about the journey....We
use each of you to sharpen us and hone us to be the people that God intended for
us to be. Will you share the journey with us? We love your comments!

Engagement

Off into the sunset they go... (one of my best pictures ever)
A typical date night activity at the ranch
The cliché is true.....The Happy Couple

Today's entry is a happy thing.... Today's entry is cause for rejoicing and pause to savor God's miracle. Today's a day to laugh over God's sense of humor in it all. With all of our oldest daughter Hannah's travels/work throughout the world over the past five years Dan has always predicated she would marry someone from a continent on the other side of the world. She did meet her match in Afghanistan, but the funny thing about it is that, he is from Cheyenne, yes, as in ?Wyoming! So from now on, no matter how far they roam, Wyoming will still be home base for them with both families in the area.

Dr. Tom is a great guy! A trauma surgeon who was serving in Afghanistan when Hannah first arrived. Although their time there only overlapped by 6 months it was enough to at least put each on the radar. This past January Hannah was asked to speak by some family friends about her time in Afghanistan and Tom and his parents were invited and he added to the Afghan experience. It was a slow and halting start to the dating but finally they got in gear and made it a regular occurrence to be together between travel and Tom's work. It has been especially nice for Dan and I as it has been fun to have Friday night dates together cooking, watching movies, walks, playing games and the like.

It is great fun to see our Hannah in love! It is fun to see her so excited about something... it is fun to watch this young love bloom. They are a very good match and very well suited to one another and we know it will be a great marriage. Tom has been able to hold his own in our crazy and large extended family.... not everyone has four sets of extended family to relate to! Yes, and he passed the brothers test too ... they put their big sticks down when they met Tom.

So they can get on with making a life together they are being married on October 29th at Saint Matthew's in Laramie, WY. Where they will live is still up for grabs... it is anyone's guess at this point, although they have several things in the hopper. You can pray for God's clear leading. We are in the troughs of wedding planning.... Simple, yet elegant, is the order of the day. I am happy to report that no one has been out of sorts yet with the pressure and we look forward to a wonderful time to witness their vows before God and celebrate together with family and friends. This Tom has been prayed over for a long time by this writer so it is amazing to see just how perfectly God answered my pleas!

God's richest blessings to our dear daughter Hannah and future son- in- law Tom.....
