Some of the Most Faithful I Have Known

Clough's Going Away Party- July 6, 2008
Early in July the Clough's left our church. Chuck was the pastor of Chugwater Valley Church over 25 years and lived in Chugwater for something like 54 years. While he hasn't pastored our church in many, many years (he is now 91) he has been a constant and steadying presence on our church. Dan and I always identified with he and his wife Glada because Pastor Clough lost his first wife to cancer and when he married Glada and she became the mother to his five. It is similar to our story. That was our special bond to them. They loved our kids too! I remember all the concern and prayers for Abby when she went to China and Hannah when she was on her trip around the world. They lifted you up daily in their prayers!

Chuck will always be remembered by me for his powerful prayers and amazing memorization of Scripture. He has truly "hid God's Word in his heart" and I was always in awe of the way it was so much a part of him. He cried often when he spoke of the love that Christ has for us! That touched my heart. He will be remembered for his good humor as well. He so often had a funny story or line to throw in for fun. Glada is one of the kindest people I know. She adores her husband and keeps a positive attitude about life. She was anxious for the adventure that this move would hold. Nonetheless, now that they are there they are having quite an adjustment in Oregon where they moved to be close to family. We need to keep them close in prayer.

I add them to our blog because they are rare examples in a mobile world. They didn't rush around trying not to miss out on any opportunity that might come their way. They believed God called them to humble Chugwater, were content here and stayed faithfull all these many years ministering and loving the people here to Christ. They were examples of great love and of people who poured themselves out for the sake of the gospel. While not a life of adventure and daring, I certainly believe that someday they will stand in front of Jesus and He will say to them... Well done good and faithful servants.... We dearly miss them....
